Course activities and practicalities

Translational course activities

BRIDGE courses offer a wide variety of learning activities specifically designed to train fellows as translational scientists:

  • Classroom teaching and lectures

  • Group work and self-study

  • Laboratory exercises

  • Q&A sessions and workshops

  • Site-visits to life science industry, patent offices, start-up environments, and museums

  • Media and pitching training

  • Reflections and discussions

  • Networking events, both in-house and outside Panum

  • Open lectures with key note speakers

  • Assignments, presentations, and tests

Training by top professionals

  • Courses are organised by prominent researchers and clinicians from UCPH, Region Zealand, the Capital Region of Denmark, as well as experts from the industry.

  • Course directors include both senior staff and emerging talents within translational science, all with high expertise and extensive networks in their fields. During the courses, fellows gain unique access to course directors' networks, knowledge, and facilities.

  • Courses are frequently visited by prominent researchers, clinicians, and experts from the life science industry and other relevant sectors.

  • Fellows can expect to meet more than 150 guest lecturers over the span of the 15 BRIDGE courses.

  • During the courses, guest lecturers give talks and lead workshops, introducing fellows to the latest research, cases, and technologies.

Courses with a close-knit group of BRIDGE Fellows

During the two year fellowship, fellows will attend all 15 courses together, learning both alongside and from each other on their journey to becoming translational scientists.

Fellows will form a close-knit group, supporting one another throughout the fellowship and building a unique network. This network will provide valuable opportunities for sparring and collaboration across research disciplines - not only during the fellowship but also later in their careers as BRIDGE Alumni.

Course practicalities

  • All 15 courses are free of charge to BRIDGE Fellows.

  • Fellows are automatically signed up for the courses when enrolled in the programme.

  • Courses are taught in English.

  • Courses last between two and five days.

  • Schedules vary, but course days typically run from 9.00 to 16.00.

  • Preparation and assignments are to be expected for all courses.

  • Course days are an integral part of the job as a BRIDGE Fellow. Fellows should not plan other activities during these days.

  • Fellows may be granted a dispensation to take a course later in case of illness or extraordinary circumstances.
