Doctors in specialist training

Specialist training is no hindrance to apply for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in translational medicine at the BRIDGE Programme. Clinical training and experience within clinical environments are seen as strong advantages for the programme where bridge-building across basic science and the clinic is highly prioritised.

Applying as a doctor under specialist training

As a doctor under specialist training you will have additional steps in the process of applying for a BRIDGE Fellowship. As your specialist training is already scheduled and involves different hospital departments and clinics, it is of great importance that you get the acceptance and approval from the involved departments and clinics to guarantee your leave should you be nominated for a BRIDGE Fellowship. As such, it is important that you initiate a dialogue with the head of clinics at the respective departments and clinics when you apply for a BRIDGE Fellowship. Please be aware that it is your own responsibility to initiate the dialogue with the involved hospital departments and clinics.

If you are nominated for a BRIDGE Fellowship

If you are nominated for a BRIDGE Fellowship, the Regional Board for Postgraduate Medical Education (Sekretatiatet for Lægelig Videreuddannelse i Region Øst) will assist you in administrating and processing your leave.

As such, you must contact the Regional Board for Postgraduate Medical Education (Sekretatiatet for Lægelig Videreuddannelse i Region Øst) no later than three months prior to the fellowship commencement and provide them with the following:

• A brief motivational letter explaining the reasons for applying for a leave

• The approval of leave given by the Head of Department and Heads of Clinic who are involved in your specialist training. The approval must state that you will be guaranteed leave for the duration of the BRIDGE appointment and should also state that you will be assured to continue your specialist training should the application for leave not be accepted

• Confirmation email from BRIDGE stating the appointment period
