BRIDGE activities and events
The BRIDGE Programme has a number of activities designed especially for fellows and mentors to facilitate the development of a translational eco-system in Copenhagen area.
Other activities may be opened to researchers and staff in Copenhagen. Please see the different activities below and a calendar on the left for upcoming activities.
For fellows and mentors
Boot Camp
The initial two-day Boot Camp to kick-start the mentor–mentee relationship and tie fellows together, takes place within the first few weeks of the fellowship. The main purpose of the Boot Camp is to assist the development of a mutual understanding of mentoring, support networking, provide insights into research methodologies in translational research and act as a social event by engaging in team-building activities across the various research areas, subjects, mentor-setups and cultural backgrounds. In addition, national and/or international speakers will be invited to inspire fellows and mentors on subjects such as translational medicine, open science, research careers and pathways or similar.
Academic Afternoons
Academic Afternoons will be organised twice a year with the purpose of inspiring fellows and mentors with new insights into subject such as funding possibilities, talk from life science industry pioneers, entrepreneurship and innovation, research communication using social media etc. If you have a good idea for a topic, a speaker, or a site visit for an Academic Afternoon, you are welcome to contact us at bridge@sund.ku.dk.
For fellows
Peer-coaching Sessions
The BRIDGE Programme has a continuous focus on the wellbeing and development of fellows. We therefore arrange peer coaching sessions yearly. These sessions are a rewarding way to build strong relations to your colleagues, learn from each other's experiences, and to inspire one another. The sessions typically last 1-2 hours and are an opportunity to reflect on your individual progress. It is also an opportunity for you to voice your opinion about the BRIDGE Programme and to let us know what you think works well and what might be particularly challenging. The peer coaching sessions are mandatory and are facilitated by an external coach.
Fellow-driven seminars
You will present your research project for critical review by peers, alumni and external experts at the fellow-driven seminars. Seminars could also be without committees present and thus solely consist of content developed by fellows. The fellow-driven seminars are centred around an academic topic and can also include a social gathering for the fellows.
The fellow-driven seminars are arranged by fellows with assistance from BRIDGE. The duration of a fellow-driven seminar is typically between 4-8 hours.
Alumni Event and Peer-coaching
The BRIDGE Alumni Network is central for perpetuating a translational ecosystem. We therefore arrange an annual Alumni event for past and present fellows and mentors to connect, network, inspire and share common interests in bridging environments and advancing within the field of translational medicine. The Alumni event contains a peer coaching session conducted by an external consultant to increase the effectiveness, motivation, and performance of both current and graduated BRIDGE Fellows. Each year we also invite a prominent figure from either the life science industry or the academic world to give a keynote lecture at the Alumni event. These lectures are open to everyone and attract a great number of participants.
Fellows and alumni fellows are invited for dinner at a nearby restaurant following the Alumni event.
The Alumni event takes place annually in the late autumn.
Events open to everyone
